Brithdays make me happy!

I love birthdays! I am now older and wiser! I also love good food, cake, and receiving gifts- who doesn't! You put all those together and you get a great birthday party! There are just so many things I lov---

"Sorry, but do you mind me asking how old you are?"

Oh no, don't mind at all! I am now 28.

"I see, well I don't mean to be rude, dearie, but I am sure you will be singing another tune when you turn 30. Nobody likes to turn thirty!"

Oh, I am pretty sure I won't mind turning thirty either! It's only two years away and I am already planning the surprise party my husband is throwing me! Like I said before- I really do love birthdays! What better reason to have a party and be happy!?"

"No most people don't like to celebrate getting older, missy! They don't like to be reminded about all the things they haven't accomplished and all the things they are getting to old to accomplish."

Hmmm... Well that's too bad. I have never felt that way. In fact, my Grandma got an electric scooter in her 70's because she wanted to try it. And my own mother has always been proud of her age so I guess I thought everyone else loved birthdays as much as we do!

"Well they don't!"

Okay, sorry, I will try to be more sensitive to you and your dislike for birthdays. Can I finish my birthday post now?

"Yes you may."

Okay back to my party...

You know it's my birthday when-

Koolaid and Sprite get mixed together for a tasty drink! Nothing says birthday better than a little fizz!

My great Aunt Kathleen's famous Taco Salad! (I know it doesn't look that appetizing in this pic but it is sooo yummy! The secret: cook the hamburger with Lawry's taco seasoning, and toss with Catalina dressing! Oh and use plain corn chips not the cheesy ones that are pictured!)

And of course my best friend, chocolate! (All this kids in the house had put their fingers in the frosting that day! Adds to the flavor right?! :0)

I actually had two birthdays! My in laws, Jill and Steve, and their fam were really busy Sunday night so they brought me dinner on Monday night (which was my real birthday anyway!) We ate homemade calzones, bread sticks, and a killer salad! And they didn't forget the chocolate! Yum!
Am I spoiled or what?? All of you who see me a church will also see the cute gift they picked out for me! Hint: it will be pink!

Thank you!!

And thanks Mom for donating your pics!

  3. Happy Birthday girl! I'll be looking for PANK today!

I loved Gabriela's comment this past week at the RS shindig. She said she tells people she's older so that they say, "oh my gosh you look so good for your age!" Fabulous! Absolutely fabulous. In that case, I'm 40 this year!

  8. I'm 34 now and I still love birthdays and 30 was no biggie. I think worrying about getting old is so silly. Maybe that's because people always guess me younger then I am but I'd like to think that even if they thought I was older that I still wouldn't mind birthdays. I'm so glad you have fun and live it up for your birthdays. You look great!
