I once knew a guy back in high school who's family didn't use a dishwasher. And he would never have to wash the dishes because he told me that he didn't think the dishes got clean enough when he washed them... He only felt like the dishes were truly clean if his mother washed them!! I was like- No way!! Your mom actually falls for that!! And you really never have to wash the dishes! He insisted it was the truth... His mom even verified that it was the reason he never had to wash the dishes!! Well, I never really believed it until now... I have lived with out a dishwasher for 3 weeks!! Hand washed dishes just don't have the sanitized cleanliness only a machine can give!! Only now I am the one who is supposed to "truly" clean the dishes and I feel I am failing miserably!!
Help! How do I really clean my dishes!???
Wear gloves and make the water extremely hot. Seriously, the secret is kitchen gloves. Or a rollaway portable dishwasher. That is also a good secret.
ReplyDeleteWash on one side with the soap, rinse on the other with hot water. No different than you dishwasher--if you are using the hot water.
ReplyDeleteWhat? You don't have a dishwasher? Umm...seriously, I can't believe you are still alive to tell this sad tale!
ReplyDeletei have a friend whose family didn't get a microwave until she was a senior in high school...
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a microwave, and like Cristin said its the hot water. In your washer, the water runs at max water heater temps. When you wash them with your hands most people cool the water to 100 degree F so they don't burn their hands. You'll notice that if you use max water heat, all the grease and soap comes off MUCH easier as well. (We grew up with 9 kids in the fam and no dish washer until I was in 5 grade)
