Blessings and Bandages

On Thursday the Indy woke up around 8 and turned on cartoons, the little girls like to sleep in and usually wake up in between 9 or 9:30 sometimes Libby will stay in bed as late as 10am but she likes to lay in bed even after she wakes up... Once everyone was awake and functioning I made something for breakfast, probably cinnamon toast. Then the cartoons go off and the girls have to do chores... On this morning their bedroom and toy room need to be cleaned up and the girls were taking their sweet time to get it done (blessing #1). Erica and Siena kept coming over wondering when they were going to come out and play!!

I made them some ramen noodles around 12:30 and Jared came home around 1pm to get a tool he needed for work but said that he was super tired and wanted to take nap for his lunch break, which was a little weird (blessing #2).

Finally! At 1:15 pm the girls finished up their chores and ran outside to play with all their awaiting friends... They had only been outside for maybe half an hour when I hear Indy coming up the porch crying.

Now if Ellie or Libby come home crying it is usually because someone left without them or they scraped their knee. When Indy comes crying I usually start running because it usually means knocked out teeth, twisted ankles, or road rash all the way up to her thigh..

So when she walked through the door with a huge gash across her calf I wasn't surprised... Okay, yes I was surprised! The first thing I said was we are going to have to go get stitches, so of course she starts crying harder! I yelled for Jared to come down and see it and I was sooo glad he was there! Jared and I usually don't do well together in stressful situations... But this time we just calmly packed the kids in the car and went to the doctors office (blessing #3), which had just reopened from their lunch break at 2pm (blessing #4).

Aubree, wasn't working and had a car, (blessing # 5) and came to the doctor's office to watch the little kids while they stitched Indy up... 12 stitches in all... While they were numbing her up she, of course, was screaming and I was trying to keep her calm... The Doctor paused for a minute to get some more medicine in his syringe and he told her he needed to just check to make sure she was numb and she snapped "Just make it quick!" I normally would have been super upset at her for talking to the Doctor like that, but I had to laugh under this situation!

Watching cartoons, not pictured were all her friends that came over to see how she was. They oooh and awww about her story, she loved the attention!
Her new little puppy from her happy meal.

Happy meal carnage...
Indy posing for the picture...

But then she wanted a more honest pic to show how she was really feeling...

These are just some random pics from that evening that I had to share!
If you don't have a kid with a jazzy in your neighborhood, I am really sorry! Look at all the fun you can have!
Jared's face says it all! Milo is now hanging on to the handle bars! I think he will be riding his own next summer!
Milo loves everything about motorcycles and Jared could not be more proud. Can you see it on his face?

When Milo is a motorcross champion like Chad Reed we will love to show off these pics!!

  1. Those are huge blessings. It's interesting how things just fall into place. I hope Indy gets better soon. It looks like she is handling it pretty well.

  2. I saw Indy's bandage (hot pink :D ) yesterday and wondered what she'd done. Poor girl. Love blessings. Blessings are good. So is vet wrap. Best darn stuff invented and I'm glad the medical world figured out what the vet world knew long ago. Ripping out hair when pulling off bandages HURTS! Need a different color we've a bunch! :D

  4. So I'm curious how did she actually get injured? Poor thing. I hate when my kids get hurt. Glad you had so many blessings. Milo looks like he's a "daddy's boy" on that bike with him. So fun. Mike is on a caribou hunt and it sounds like it's been pretty rough. He said they even had some snow. brrr in Aug!
