I know you might think that you have to have meat or tuna or something to go in the middle of this- but, really, you don't!
Growing up, my mom didn't have a cupboard full of chips, cookies and drinks to snack on. Oh no!- If we were hungry it was up to us to find something to eat. One summer when I still lived in Redding, Ca., my BFF, Karen Robins ,come to visit for a week or two and we made these sandwiches like everyday... And to this day we still get cravings for them and we always call or text each other after we have eaten one!
And one other funny story that I just remembered and have to share. Durning our senior year (my family had now moved to Orem, we went to Mt View, and Karen was living with us for the school year and I was dating Jared.) We left school early, I can't remember why we did but I remember we were very worried about getting in trouble by my mom. So after we walked the mile and a half home we found out my mom wasn't even home and we were like "Sweet!" So we started making a snack like every kid does when they get home from school, probably a CLT sandwich, when we heard my mom pull in.
Now, we only had maybe 30 seconds to come up with a plan. And at that moment we both knew exactly what we had to do. We played dead. I'm serious! We fell on the floor where we were standing a pretended we were dead! (I have to admit ,we did this quite often...) So when my mom opened the door there was stunned silence. Not because she thought we were dead.... she was too smart for that, it was because we were home from school early and pretending to be dead! The silence didn't last long before we were in a unstoppable laughing fit like only teenage girls can do!
Anyway... :0) (It really was funny, huh Karen!)
Coming soon pictures of Milo Milo! ("The name's so nice you say it twice!")
My sister lives in Redding!
ReplyDeleteWe eat CLT's at our house too. You're right. They are yummy. I'm a sandwhich snob. :)
Oh, the good old days. And the way you have that laid out all nice in the picture...I might have to make one for breakfast! It looks so good!
ReplyDeletePlaying dead. That was good times. And I think it might be hereditary (sp?) because Lucy actually does that sometimes! It's hilarious. And now that I'm the mom, I don't know how to react. I guess coming from a 4 year old it's easier not to get mad than at a high school-skipper. I MISS YOU!!!!
Love the silly teenage story. I can just picture you on the floor pretending to be dead. Did you get in trouble?
ReplyDeleteLove it! I should've tried that when I sluffed school!
