The Last Week of Summer!!

Ahh... summer! I have really enjoyed this summer more than any other. I only think that because now that I have a kid in school all day I appreciate the break from all the school stuff!! We sleep in, and play, and do whatever we want.

Our typical summer day:

Indy wakes up first right about 7:30 or 8 and goes right downstairs to watch cartoons... Then Ellie wakes up soon after and comes and lays by me and tries to convince me that it's morning time and that I have to wake up, she gives up after a few minutes and goes to watch TV with Indy.

Then I start to hear the fridge opening and cupboards closing and I know they are getting hungry and if I don't get out of bed they will destroy my kitchen. So I get up, and by now it's 8:30 ish. I start to make Cream of Wheat (my kids love that stuff!) or pancakes. And Libby usually comes downstairs by this time. We eat breakfast and then I go take a shower and get dressed while my kids watch more cartoons... Then I come downstairs turn off the T.V. and say go clean your room and you can invite a friend over. So they all go up to there room and play house with eachother until lunch time and by then their room is more messy.

So I say "Fine, no friends today!" and they scream "NO we will clean it we promise!" My kids do not know the meaning of promise! So they go back to their room and finish playing their game and make even more of a mess! Then at about 3 or 4pm I finally go in there and basically do it all myself while they start playing a new game where I am Cinderella and they are my evil step sisters! Then I send them out side to play until dinner!

So heres my question: What are all your typical days like?! I know some of you don't let your kids watch T.V. and I want to know what your kids do when they wake up in the morning! And some of you have pefectly clean houses! How is that possible? And some of you cook totally gourmet dinners? How do you do it! I really want to know- so blog about it!

Today we took a break from that typical day and went to the Payson Pool and had a blast! We went with Cassi and her kids and Chelsea, Rob and Michaela. I love that pool it is so awesome! It's brand new, not too big or crowded, and the bathrooms don't make me want to puke! That is the best part!
And no baby yet- but be checking my blog because I learned how to send picture to my blog from my phone! So I will have his picture and stats up within hours of his arrival!

  1. Karson is up between 6-6:30 every morning no matter what time he goes to bed. It wouldn't be so bad if he would go downstairs and watch TV for a little while but no. He wakes up starving and demands breakfast immedately. Sometimes I can get away with going down and making him breakfast and then going back to bed for a while. I am all about the TV in the morning if it means I can get a little extra sleep. Tristen doesn't get to watch TV or play video games during the week until Friday after school and homework is done. I don't have to worry about him watching it in the morning because he doesn't get out of bed until I drag him out at the last possible minute to get ready for school. My boys are complete opposites. I wouldn't worry about things like your house not being clean enough. It sounds like your girls are very happy and loving life and that is the most important thing. :)

  2. My day is a lot like yours actually except a couple days a week I have 2 extra boys that I have to get up for at 6:30. TV is great unless it's on too much, I find that my kids get bored with it anyway and go and do something else so I just turn it off or if I get th rare opportunity, I catch up on some of my shows. I kind of have food schedule around here cause I get tird of hearing "I'm starving". We have breakfast then a couple hours later they get a snack and then a couple hours later lunch and then snack and dinner and then snack and then bed, anyway, you get the picture, it doesn't always happen that way, but I hate the all day whining of "I'm hungry". They also whine about picking up toys!!! And I cook the usually Mormon Mom meals like spaghetti and tacos and stuff like that. Oh, and I used to think that I could raise kids and have a sparkling clean house, but then I realized that they need me more then the house does and that stuff will get done eventually!!

  3. My day starts anywhere from 5:30 am to 6:30 am depending on when Ashton decides to get up. We get ready for the day, eat breakfast. Play for a little bit while I get ready for my run. Then Kaitlyn and Ashton sit in the stroller while I run a few miles we stop to play at the park for awhile then run a few more miles home. Then they play while I get ready for the day, we play and clean up the house. Eat lunch about noon then they both go down for naps. Then I clean some more or start working on things for dinner. For me I HATE making the same thing for dinner over and over. I also hate casserols, so for me I am always looking up new things to make and try. They get up from naps play some more. They either play or watch a movie when I start making dinner. We eat , then they can play some more, and about 7:30 pm they go to bed. Then Nathan and I have the reast of the night to do whatever. Well I mostly do laundry and Nathan goes to bed early since he gets up at 4:30 am. So thats my day, nothing to fabulous, but all things will change when school starts.

  4. I love summer too! We sleep in until when ever, my kids can get their own breakfast, but sometimes when I'm in the "good mom" mood, I'll make pancakes, or french toast. Today it was Be-eggls. (scrambled eggs on beagles, with cheese and turkey) Then we swim all day, do a few chores here and there, then off to gym with Josh (that's our life year round but we'll see him in the olympics one day! :) No rushed bedtimes, etc... I love SUMMER! I'm so sad that it's coming to an end soon.:(

  5. Just catching up on your blog. Your family is so darling! The T.V. thing can sometimes be a life-saver. As a former teacher, I swore the T.V. would never be used as a babysitter, but lo and behold, it has been several times. In some "era's" of my life more than others. Dakota wakes up the earliest by about 8:30. My other three could sleep all afternoon if I'd let them. But, now that school has started, we have to be up and at it. Just be a Mommy right now. Your kids won't remember the cluttered house, the mac & cheese dinners, or that fact that Mom didn't get in the shower until after noon again. They will remember playing with each other, the outings and memories you make together, and most importantly that their mom loved them! Good luck!
